A Letter toThe American People and Conscience of The Free World

To American People...
To All World Free Nations ...

We the members of World Association for Arab Translators and Linguists are Arab academics, intellectuals, translators, writers, poets, and activists concerned about our Arab nation's issues concerns express our opposition and remonstrance to the U.S.A policies which supports the Israeli massacres against the unarmed innocent Palestinian people.
As leaders and members of the modern Arab renaissance movement. We believe that the current policies of the U.S.A will not sow seeds of peace and security, but only the fair action can achieve security in the Middle East and for the United States of America.
The U.S.A claims of trying to plant peace, democracy and justice have been unmasked but our Arab world was the soil where U.S.A planted thorns tension and violence.
The U.S.A drawls all the time about its deep rooted respect for humanity and human rights but the reality of its actions proves the opposite. We wonder how U.S.A disregarded the principle of not to increase the suffering of friends or foes, but to ease their pain and despair.

The U.S.A foreign policy towards Arab issues gave any good but made the bad situations worse. It caused tremendous loss of human life, the additional deaths of thousands of innocent children and civilians as well as crumbling Arab infrastructure.

The U.S. which loudly criticized Iraq for seeking weapons and occupied it for the claims mass destruction while it is preparing to develop a new series of nuclear weapons. The United States will abdicate its voice to call for nonviolent resolution of other conflicts particularly Palestinian- Israel.

The U.S.A acts and policies will not increase security for the United States and other Middle East countries. It will increase the already rising tide of anti-American sentiment, broaden the divide between the West and the Arab world, and further destabilize the whole region by kindling more anger feelings against it. In addition, the U.S.A policies will likely put at risk the American interests in Arab region only but in all Muslim World.

It is our belief that the main problem with U.S. policies in the Middle East (in particular in Iraq, Palestine, and other countries in Arab World) is precisely the double standard and prejudice.

As a matter of fact, the oppressive practices and policies of U.S.A created enemies not only in the Arab World but exceeded to the Muslim World, which see the U.S. A as a staunch ally of Israel, even when it violates all international resolutions or kills innocent women and children.

The American administration still live in illusion of it is the sole world polar world, they should get vigilant that there is a steady rise of other effective international powers and that the delusion of the high-handed policy that the US followed as a super power is no longer acceptable to the international community.

Actually our conscience is bleed by the acts of injustice that the U.S.A. and its Israeli ally committed against the Palestinians.

What is happening in Palestine and particularly in Gaza is a blunt inhuman degrading treatment. It is a torture cruel practice against unarmed innocent people.

What Gaza witnessing now is a crime against humanity, it is a flagrant example of genocide against a nation striving under brutal Israeli occupation. It is against all human principles, religious beliefs and international conventions.

There was there a time when the U.S.A administrations succeeded in deceiving the world and gaining respect and admiration worldwide for its false calls about safeguarding human rights and democracy, but now the crimes of U.S.A allover the world exposed the reality of its aims.

It is worthy to mention that US exports to Arab countries achieved a record of $35 in 2006. So, the US administration should recognize the fact that it stands to win a great deal by being fair and even-handed in its relations with the Arab world and its issues. Otherwise, it will continue to lose billions of dollars in trade and investment opportunities allover the world.

Now there is no alternative in front of the U.S. administration but understanding that as long as it remains committed to a one-point agenda of looking at the Arab world from the Israeli perspective, its approach toward our region will continue to be biased, even such a policy will lead to harm to the U.S.A national interest.

Thus, the American persistence and total silence is a message that tells the world: U.S.A is a real enemy of humanity, justice and democracy.

Despite some initial skepticism, we still have some hope that the American people may manacle the U.S. administration's killing machine in Arab region.

We know that some wise minds in the United States support our legal and fair requests.
We hope that they will consider our words, recall how much issues are at stake in the Arab world, and ponder how costly silence and mixed signals when our children are killing by Israel bloody hands under the witness of U.S.A.
In our letter we nowhere blame the American people but our accusing finger is basically pointing toward the U.S. administration.

The hope is still alive that the American people can refurbish that repugnant image, if fair people join hands working for achieving real peace and justice.

This letter is also addressed to all free countries and nations, we invite them to act in solidarity to take all possible actions to save the Palestinian children and support all good efforts to end the suffer of Palestinian people in Gaza and all occupied Palestinian regions.

You, Americans, see how Palestinian children, men and women are abused, killed in cold blood with media coverage? I think there is something wrong with the way you see the world. Please think again and imagine your children and adults are in place of those oppressed victims. Is it civilization principles to uproot trees, demolish houses, scare boys and girls to death, and humiliate aged people? Think again, and you may get convinced that due rights must go back to their claimants.

American Admenstration who was ever wearing the mask of Humanity, freedom and Democarcy which have been droped since they widely opened thier arms to thier little child ' Israel' is now claiming for world peace. Isn't it absurd in terms of self-contradiction . So, how could we expect any positive action from them so long as our mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters, sons and dughters are being made housless , oppressed and slaughtered with no reason. Really it is shame on us if we keep our hands off, and our words beautifully formed in the absence of action

Palestinian Children Victims
The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is one of the world’s major sources of instability. Americans are directly connected to this conflict, and increasingly imperiled by its devastation
The majority of these [Palestinian] children were killed and injured while going about normal daily activities, such as going to school, playing, shopping, or simply being in their homes. Sixty-four percent of children killed during the first six months of 2003 died as a result of Israeli air and ground attacks, or from indiscriminate fire from Israeli soldiers.”
http://www.ifamericansknew.org/images/children_by_year-lg.gif

American news reports repeatedly describe Israeli military attacks against the Palestinian population as “retaliation.” However, when one looks into the chronology of death in this conflict, the reality turns out to be quite different.

Source: B'Tselem, The Israeli Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories. (Visit their statistics page.) Their statistics cover through August 31, 2007.

These numbers include civilians and combattants killed by members of the opposing nationality (and therefore, do not include Palestinians killed by an explosive device that they set or was on their person, Israelis killed in 'friendly fire' incidents, etc.). The numbers also do not include the sizable number of Palestinians who died as a result of inability to reach medical care due to Israeli road closures, curfews, etc.

The figure for Palestinian deaths is extremely conservative, since it is difficult for B'Tselem to report on deaths in the Palestinian territories. The Palestine Red Crescent Society, internationally respected for its statistical rigor, reports significantly higher numbers of Palestinian deaths. We do not doubt the reliability of their data, and only use B'Tselem's more conservative numbers because they collect data on both populations.

In the past we used the statistics provided by Israel’s military for the number of Israelis killed, but they have not updated their statistics page since early in 2006. In addition, there is reason to believe that their numbers may have been somewhat inflated.

* The Palestinian people do not have a military, so the usual classification of civilian is not being used. Instead B'Tselem provides data on the number of Palestinians who did not participate in hostilities, a significantly more stringent qualification that the one used to identify Israeli civilians. We do not know how many of the Israelis listed as civilians participated in the hostilities. Many settlers who illegally have taken over parts of the West Bank (and used to live in parts of the Gaza Strip) are heavily armed and there have been numerous reports of their brutal attacks on their Palestinian neighbors.

Source: The Palestine Red Crescent Society, is our source for the Palestinian injuries. (Visit their statistics page, which was last updated on June 30, 2007.) Our source for the number of Israelis injured is Israel’s military, the Israel Defense Forces. (Visit their statistics page, which was last updated on January 15, 2006.)

The exact number of Palestinians injured during the current uprising is very difficult to ascertain. This is caused in part by the chaos that ensued following the re-invasion of the West Bank during March and April 2002. The estimates range from about the number recorded above to 53,000 (Palestine Monitor). It is believed that up to about 10,000 Palestinian children have been injured during this time period.
We have been unable to find details about the breakdown of injury types suffered by Israelis, so the chart below only applies to the Palestinians injured.

The child and her diary

June 17, 2002

Laila Yaghi

She wrote in her diary every night

When bullets passed by her window… she wrote

When Israeli soldiers killed her mother she wrote

She wrote of the horrors she sees

And the nightmares of flames and destruction

She the Palestinian child

Writes in her diary every night

To ease her enormous pain

To sedate her fears and nightmares

That little Palestinian child

Had died while writing in bed

From Israelis bulldozing her home

And now she lies in her tomb

Forgotten…as if she never existed

But her diary will carry on

The suffering of every Palestinian child

And now on her tomb Israeli children play

And sing with no worries of tomorrow

Where she once lived is confiscated

What are left from her family are refugees

And we continue to support Israel

With 10 million dollars a day!

And we continue to say

All humans are created equal

But continue to send to Israel

10 million dollars a day!

A Palestinian Boy's Tragedy
Behind the lofty gigantic Israeli Separation Wall, horrific scenes unfold every day. A completely demolished Palestinian house, located in a dreary district, created an air of gloom and destruction. In front of the debris, a bunch of girls and boys, tousled and shabbily dressed, were passing their small football to each other with perfect childish innocence. Their bare feet made countless stamps on the soft dusty ground, showing their tiny footprints. The ball kept bouncing here and there and rolling along the area they allocated for playing. There were olive- trees, not far-away, large, shady, and swayed by gusty winds. Suddenly, the winds abated and the trees stood still, motionless, with their drooping black olives out of reach. A strange feeling encroached on my limbs and heart; the smell of death wafted across the area. From a well-concealed position, a Jewish sniper shot a bullet that whistled loudly over the kids' heads. The children hid behind a mammoth piece of debris, cuddling up together in absolute horror, except for a disheveled boy in a threadbare white shirt and tattered trousers who stood alone at the playground, placing the ball on his right hip. He turned to his playmates, shouting at them to huddle together again. But they could not answer his calls; the answer, indeed, was another bullet that penetrated his head and laid him in a pool of blood. The gushing blood soaked the whites of his eyes even his face. His eyelashes stuck to their eyelids, and the dark pupils were sparkling. Blood emitted from his nose and mouth, running down to the white shirt, smearing it with purple spots. Having watched such an awful scene, the girls and boys scurried to their ramshackle houses, leaving the boy's sister with him. Her shrill screams and loud wails could shatter even the strewn stones and cause surrounding onlookers to cry their eyes out. The poor girl approached her dead brother, shook, hugged, and crazily called him, but how could a corpse reply? Warm blood went on oozing slowly from the boys' head. She sat beside him, and placed his blood-soaked head on her chest. Her skin got wet through her blood-stained dress. Her eyes shed ceaseless streams of hot tears, threading their way through the coagulated bloody face. All of a sudden, she relaxed the grip on her brother and breathed her last. Then a deadly silence hung over the area.
