She went to bring two tickets while he stayed sucking his cigarette voraciouslly She came back. And gave him one. He toutched her fingers intentionally .when She looked at him repudiating , He winked and smiled . Then her face shined with a pretty smile . He was about to fly away , when the tram arrived . He went in with other passengers . She sat opposite to him and said :
- Why are you silent ? did you regret that you have accepted my invitation ? He bumbled and said some words . she inderstood that he did not … How could he regret some thing he had been dreaming of for a long time ? He was pleased when she spoke with him in the university like the other fellows. And sat near him in the class . at the begining , she d id not give him any importance and he gave her all his hnterest .
Could he be in love ? Could he give in the panel discussions and the meetings ? and be satisfied with her speech about cinema stars and visual art ..
.. Sshe began to be interested when he was speaking about poetry and realist cinema . as well as Tunisian university of amateur filmmakers and their struggle for a national cinema . she asked him about poetry , politics and study. And he answered her . he felt happy when he saw her thanked pretty smile on her face .the day when he discussed in the university with the professor , about the philosophi of law and state , It was the first time he discussed with a professor in the university . he spoke about law and its relation with economic development .and its role to codify the relations of productions. And the development of communities. As well as its situation from the infrastructure . when he had finished , his body was trembling , but after he saw his professor’s smile and his fellow’s encouragement , he turned towards her and found out that she was looking at him with admiration . She pressed on his hand and said : you are wonderful !
In that day , he greeted the guard loudly and went up the three stages singing :
This heart has to be in love and burn in love’s shade
Every day which has passes without love is lost
Faisal , his friend of the room said , when he sensed how happy he was :
- I have seen you with her this morning .. he did not let him finish what he had to say . He embraced him and said :
- We will eat today in a special restaurant.. and I will pay
The tram stopped . he was about to leave. She said : we will go down the tram at the station and she adds : I did not like to interrupt your dreams .. what were you thinking of ? He answered : I was thinking of you. Then , he was silent . He regretted what he had said .
She was fond of his frankness which she has not the habit to hear in these situations she had the habit to hear him speaking in every thing but not his feelings or when
ever they are alone
