قام مسلحون مجهولون باختطاف أمريكي وسودانيين من عمال الإغاثة على مقربة من قرية أبو أجورا جنوب دارفور بعد مهاجمة قافلتهم، كما أفادت السلطات السودانية.
ووفقًا لما جاء بصحيفة سودان تريبيون، قد تكون دوافع عمليات الإختطاف الأخيرة مادية. وقد شهد الشهر الماضي إختطاف أربعة من العامين بالاتحاد الأفريقي ثم إطلاق سراحهم فيما بعد.
يُذكر أن نشوب النزاع مجددًا بين حركة العدل والمساواة والجيش السوداني قد أدى إلى تشريد الملايين.
Unknown gunmen near Abu Ajura village in South Darfur have abducted an American and two Sudanese aid workers after their convoy came under attack, Sudanese authorities said.
According to the Sudan Tribune, the recent abductions could be financially motivated. Last month four African Union (AU) staff were kidnapped and later released. Renewed conflict between the Justice and Equality Movement and the Sudanese army has displaced millions.

Jordanian ministers approve new draft election law
"سيتمتع الأردنيون الآن بإنتخابات برلمانية حرة وديمقراطية بموجب قانون الإنتخابات المؤقت الجديد الذي صادق عليه مجلس الوزراء الأردني" بحسب مسؤولين.
ووفقًا لصحيفة جوردان تايمز، فإن القانون الجديد ينص على تعيين قاضٍ لرئاسة اللجنة الأنتخابية، بالإضافة إلى فرضه عقوبات على رشوة مسؤولي الإنتخابات ودعمه الناخبين الأميين.
وسيبقى نظام شخص واحد-صوت واحد معمولاً به فيما تمت مضاعفة عدد المقاعد المخصصة للنساء.
وسيُسَن القانون الجديد خلال هذا الأسبوع.
Jordanians will now enjoy free and democratic elections in upcoming parliamentary polls under a new temporary Election Law that was approved by Jordan’s council of ministers, say officials.
According to the Jordanian Times, the new law calls for the appointment of a judge to reside over the elections committee, penalties for bribing election officials and support for illiterate voters.
The controversial one-person-one-vote system remains in tact while seats already reserved for women are set to double.
The new law will be enacted this week.

The fifth round of Riyadh’s Euromoney 2010 festival began today. Global markets have been witnessing some instability in light of the Greek financial crisis.
This round has witnessed the attendance of more than 1,200 financial and business figures within the region and from different areas of the world, in an effort to study the reality of financial markets and the impact of global crises on them.
The conference will be held over two days, including eight main sessions and a number of workshops run by global financial institutions.

Al-Hariri visits Damascus to discuss mutual interests
بدء رئيس الوزراء اللبناني سعد الحريري اليوم زيارة رسمية إلى سوريا لنقاش القضايا المشتركة بين البلدين.
وتعتبر هذه الزيارة هي الثانية من نوعها التي يقوم بها الحريري إلى منذ منذ حادث اغتيال والده سنة 2005، حيث تم حينها اتهام دمشق بالوقوف وراء الحادث.
كما تأتي الزيارة في إطار جولة عربية، تشمل تركيا، يقوم بها رئيس الوزراء اللبناني قبل التوجه إلى الولايات المتحدة في الثالث والعشرين من شهر آيار/ مايو الجاري.
Lebanese Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri paid an official visit to Damascus to discuss mutual interests between both nations.
This is al-Hariri’s second visit to Damascus since his father’s assassination in 2005. Damascus was then accused of having a role in the incident.
The visit is part of an Arab tour, which will include a visit to Turkey, conducted by the Lebanese Prime Minister before heading to the United States on the 23rd of May.

West Bank Palestinians have started a 'House-to-house' campaign against Israeli settlement products.
The campaign is expected to attract thousands of young volunteers, whereas they will be moving from one house to another to explain the importance of boycotting settlement products.
Participants are to wear white shirts that have "It's up to you. From house to House. Do not let settlements into your home. Settlements' lifeline is your consumption of their products" written on them.

Saudi Arabia: two German girls kidnapped in Yemen rescued
أعلن مسؤولون سعوديون عن استعادة طفلتين ألمانيتين اختطفتا في وقت سابق مع 7 أشخاص ألمان و بريطاني وسيدة كورية في اليمن.
و حسب المتحدث الأمني في وزارة الداخلية السعودية فالعملية جرت بالتنسيق مع السلطات اليمنية على الحدود بينهما.
و أكد وزير الخارجية الألماني الخبر، و أضاف: "بان الطفلتين الألمانيتين اللتين جرى تحريرهما في اليمن بصحة جيدة و ستعودان للوطن يوم الأربعاء".
Saudi officials have announced that the two German girls who were kidnapped earlier with 7 Germans, a Briton and a Korean woman in Yemen have been retrieved.
According to the spokesman of the Saudi Ministry of Interior, the operation has taken place in coordination with the Yemeni authorities on the borders between the two countries.
The German Foreign Minister has confirmed the news, saying that the girls were in good health and would be flown home on Wednesday.

بعد أن رفضت السلطات الإسرائيلية عبور ناعوم تشومسكي جسر اللنبي من الأردن إلى الضفة الغربية، سيلقي تشومسكي محاضرته في جامعة بيرزيت في رام الله عبر الفيديوكونفرانس من العاصمة الأردنية عمان.
ولم تقدم السلطات الإسرائيلية سبباً لرفض دخول تشومسكي، إلا أن وزارة الداخلية الإسرائيلية قالت "قد يكون هناك سوء فهم حول نوايا تشومسكي لزيارة المنطقة". وفند تشومسكي هذه الإدعاءات قائلاً انه لم يكن هناك أي أساس لحدوث سوء الفهم.
ومن المعروف أن ناعوم تشومسكي الأستاذ بمعهد ماساتشوسيتس للتكنولوجيا ناقد بارز لإسرائيل.

No clear reason was given as to Chomsky’s entry denial, but the Israeli Ministry of Interior said that “there may have been miscommunication regarding Chomsky's intentions in coming into the area.” Chomsky refuted that saying there was no basis for a misunderstanding.

State-run China National Offshore Oil Corp and partner Turkish Petroleum Corporation have clinched a deal to develop Iraq’s lucrative Maysan oilfields in the city of Amarah in southern Iraq, which could make Iraq a leading producer in the oil sector.
According to reports, China is becoming a leading investor in developing Iraq’s oil and gas to meet the needs of its growing economy. Currently Iraq holds the world’s third largest oil reserves and if developed could provide a boost to the country’s reconstruction efforts.

ومن المقرر مناقشة الحقوق المدنية للمرأة الكويتية في البرلمان في وقت لاحق من هذا الشهر. وتواجه المرأة الكويتية حالياً عقبات في تمرير جنسيتها إلى أبنائها أو زوجها، كما إنها لا تتمتع بحقوق الإسكان.
Kuwaiti women are demanding the right to be appointed to the Gulf state’s judiciary a year after four Kuwaiti women made history by winning parliamentary seats for the first time.
Speaking at a symposium Monday on women’s rights, activists say only politics prevents women from the judiciary because Kuwaiti law promotes gender equality.
Civil rights for women in Kuwait are set for debate in parliament later this month. Currently Kuwaiti women face obstacles in passing citizenship to their children or spouses and lack housing rights.

قدم الصحافي السعودي جمال خاشقجي استقالته من رئاسة تحرير جريدة الوطن السعودية على خلفية مقال حول السلفية.
و قالت بعض التقارير أن خاشقجي المعروف بمواقفه ضد التشدد، أجبر على الاستقالة، بينما أوردت وكالة فرانس برس تعليقا للصحافي السعودي قال فيه "أن استقالته "ليست متعلقة بأي شيء كتبه هو شخصيا".
و كانت صحيفة الوطن قد نشرت مقالا للشاعر السعودي إبراهيم الألمع انتقد فيه التيار السلفي المتشدد السائد في السعودية.
Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi resigned Sunday as editor of Al-Watan leading newspaper. Some sources said that he was forced to resign because his recent articles against Salafi thought have angered authorities.
Some reports mentioned that Khashoggi is known for his position against extremism and conservative application of Islam, while AFP quoted the Saudi journalist saying that "his resignation is not related to anything he personally wrote."
Al-Watan newspaper had also published an article for Saudi poet Ibrahim Al-Alma' in which he criticizes the extremist Salafi thought that dominates Saudi Arabia.

وقعت إيران مع تركيا بمشاركة البرازيل اتفاقا يهدف إلى تهدئة قلق الغرب من طموحات إيران النووية و تجنب فرض عقوبات جديدة.
و بموجب الاتفاق ستحصل إيران على 120 كلغ من اليورانيوم المخصب اللازم لتشغيل مفاعل الأبحاث مقابل نقل 1200 كلغ من اليورانيوم الإيراني الضعيف التخصيب إلى تركيا.
و من جهة أخرى، شككت إسرائيل في جدوى الاتفاق حيث قال مسؤول إسرائيلي أن "الإيرانيين تلاعبوا بتركيا والبرازيل عبر التظاهر بموافقتهم".
Iran signed with Turkey with the participation of Brazil an agreement aimed at easing concern the West of Iran's nuclear ambitions and avoid the imposition of new sanctions.
Under the agreement, Iran will get 120 kg of enriched uranium required to operate the research reactor in exchange for the 1200 KG of weak Iranian uranium enrichment to Turkey.
And on the other hand, Israel doubted the feasibility of the deal as an Israeli official said that "the Iranians are forged, Turkey, Brazil, by demonstrating they have agreed," he said.

وجاء هذا الإعلان في بيان أصدره التنظيم، الذي قام قبل يومين بإصدار بيان آخر يتوعد فيه بشن عمليات مسلحة تستهدف القوات العراقية.
ورغم التطمينات التي يقدمها القادة العسكريون الأمريكيون والسلطات العراقية، بكون التنظيم أصبح ضعيفاً، إلا أن التفجيرات الأخيرة توضح أنه لايزال قادراً على تنفيذ أعمال عنف.
Al-Qaeda organization in the 'Islamic state of Iraq' has named 'Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi' their Emir, after the killing of the former leader, 'Abu-Umar Al-Baghdadi', in a US-Iraqi joint military operation.
This announcement has been part of a statement issued by the organization that issued another one two days ago threatening to launch armed operations against the Iraqi troops.
Despite assurances by US military leaders and Iraqi authorities that the organization has weakened, the last explosions indicate that it is still capable of carrying out acts of violence.

وقال د. صفوق الشمري المشارك في العملية في تصريح لصحيفة "الحياة": إن من شأن هذا الإنجاز أن يساعد على التخلي عن البحث عن متبرعين بأعضاء بشرية.
ولم يتمكن الشمري من المشاركة في العملية إلا بموافقة استثنائية من الحكومة اليابانية، التي تمنع قوانينها مشاركة أطباء أجانب من المشاركة في إنجاز أبحاث ودراسات علمية في البلد.
A Saudi Surgeon in collaboration with a Japanese medical team have managed to develop human cardiac tissue to construct five hearts that have been successfully transplanted in cardiac patients' bodies.
"This achievement could help in dispensing with human organ donors," said the surgeon Dr. Safwat Al-Shimary in a statement to Al-Hayah newspaper.
Al-Shimary was able to take part in the operation only after being granted an exceptional permission by the Japanese government whose laws ban the participation of foreign physicians in scientific studies and researches in Japan.

وادعى الترابي،الذي كان شريكا مقربا من الرئيس السوداني عمر البشير، مؤخراً أن انتخابات الشهر الماضي كانت مزورة.
كما أنه اتُهم أيضا بالصلة مع حركة العدل والمساواة (جي اي ام)،وهي المجموعة التي تعتبرها الخرطوم منظمة متمردة .
Sudanese authorities have arrested Popular Congress Party (PCP) opposition leader Hassan al-Turabi on charges that remain unknown.
According to reports, the party’s newspaper has been seized and offices shut down.
Al-Turabi, once a close associate of Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, recently voiced claims that last month national elections were rigged. He has also been accused of having ties to the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM), a group that Khartoum sees as a rebel organization.

US military aid to Israel is set to increase after president Barack Obama asked Congress to provide an extra $200 million to Israel’s production of a short-range rocket defense system called “Iron Dome” that Israel plans to deploy later this year.
According to reports, the “Iron Dome” project was created after the Israel-Lebanon war to intercept rockets from Gaza and Lebanon. The announcement comes a month after the US warned Syria of contributing to regional conflict after allegations surfaced that Syria was supplying missiles to Hizbullah. Claims that Syria has denied.

Lebanese Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri paid an official visit to Damascus to discuss mutual interests between both nations.
This is al-Hariri’s second visit to Damascus since his father’s assassination in 2005. Damascus was then accused of having a role in the incident.
The visit is part of an Arab tour, which will include a visit to Turkey, conducted by the Lebanese Prime Minister before heading to the United States on the 23rd of May.

و سيرتدي المشاركون قمصانا بيضاء يكتب عليها "انت وضميرك.. من بيت لبيت.. لا تدخل المستوطنات إلى بيتك.. شريان حياة المستوطنات هو استهلاكك لمنتجاتهم".
West Bank Palestinians have started a 'House-to-house' campaign against Israeli settlement products.
The campaign is expected to attract thousands of young volunteers, whereas they will be moving from one house to another to explain the importance of boycotting settlement products.
Participants are to wear white shirts that have "It's up to you. From house to House. Do not let settlements into your home. Settlements' lifeline is your consumption of their products" written on them.

أعلن مسؤولون سعوديون عن استعادة طفلتين ألمانيتين اختطفتا في وقت سابق مع 7 أشخاص ألمان و بريطاني وسيدة كورية في اليمن.
و حسب المتحدث الأمني في وزارة الداخلية السعودية فالعملية جرت بالتنسيق مع السلطات اليمنية على الحدود بينهما.
و أكد وزير الخارجية الألماني الخبر، و أضاف: "بان الطفلتين الألمانيتين اللتين جرى تحريرهما في اليمن بصحة جيدة و ستعودان للوطن يوم الأربعاء".
Saudi officials have announced that the two German girls who were kidnapped earlier with 7 Germans, a Briton and a Korean woman in Yemen have been retrieved.
According to the spokesman of the Saudi Ministry of Interior, the operation has taken place in coordination with the Yemeni authorities on the borders between the two countries.
The German Foreign Minister has confirmed the news, saying that the girls were in good health and would be flown home on Wednesday.

بعد أن رفضت السلطات الإسرائيلية عبور ناعوم تشومسكي جسر اللنبي من الأردن إلى الضفة الغربية، سيلقي تشومسكي محاضرته في جامعة بيرزيت في رام الله عبر الفيديوكونفرانس من العاصمة الأردنية عمان.
ولم تقدم السلطات الإسرائيلية سبباً لرفض دخول تشومسكي، إلا أن وزارة الداخلية الإسرائيلية قالت "قد يكون هناك سوء فهم حول نوايا تشومسكي لزيارة المنطقة". وفند تشومسكي هذه الإدعاءات قائلاً انه لم يكن هناك أي أساس لحدوث سوء الفهم.
ومن المعروف أن ناعوم تشومسكي الأستاذ بمعهد ماساتشوسيتس للتكنولوجيا ناقد بارز لإسرائيل.
After being banned from crossing the Allenby Bridge from Jordan to the West Bank by Israeli authorities, Noam Chomsky will give the lecture schedule at the Birzeit University in Ramallah through videoconference from Amman.
No clear reason was given as to Chomsky’s entry denial, but the Israeli Ministry of Interior said that “there may have been miscommunication regarding Chomsky's intentions in coming into the area.” Chomsky refuted that saying there was no basis for a misunderstanding.

وُلدت فقيه في قرية صريفا الجنوبية بلبنان وهاجرت إلى نيويورك عام 1993 بعد أن انضمت إلى مدرسة كاثوليكية ثم انتقلت إلى ميشيجان للحصول على الشهادة الجامعية.

Fakih was born in the southern village of Sreefa, and left to New York in 1993 after having attended a Catholic school. She then moved to Michigan to complete her university degree.

State-run China National Offshore Oil Corp and partner Turkish Petroleum Corporation have clinched a deal to develop Iraq’s lucrative Maysan oilfields in the city of Amarah in southern Iraq, which could make Iraq a leading producer in the oil sector.
According to reports, China is becoming a leading investor in developing Iraq’s oil and gas to meet the needs of its growing economy. Currently Iraq holds the world’s third largest oil reserves and if developed could provide a boost to the country’s reconstruction efforts.

ويقول النشطاء في ندوة عُقدت اليوم لمناقشة حقوق المرأة إن السياسة هي التي تمنع المرأة من التعيين في المناصب القضائية لأن القانون الكويتي يعزز المساواة بين الجنسين.
ومن المقرر مناقشة الحقوق المدنية للمرأة الكويتية في البرلمان في وقت لاحق من هذا الشهر. وتواجه المرأة الكويتية حالياً عقبات في تمرير جنسيتها إلى أبنائها أو زوجها، كما إنها لا تتمتع بحقوق الإسكان.
Kuwaiti women are demanding the right to be appointed to the Gulf state’s judiciary a year after four Kuwaiti women made history by winning parliamentary seats for the first time.
Speaking at a symposium Monday on women’s rights, activists say only politics prevents women from the judiciary because Kuwaiti law promotes gender equality.
Civil rights for women in Kuwait are set for debate in parliament later this month. Currently Kuwaiti women face obstacles in passing citizenship to their children or spouses and lack housing rights.

قدم الصحافي السعودي جمال خاشقجي استقالته من رئاسة تحرير جريدة الوطن السعودية على خلفية مقال حول السلفية.
و قالت بعض التقارير أن خاشقجي المعروف بمواقفه ضد التشدد، أجبر على الاستقالة، بينما أوردت وكالة فرانس برس تعليقا للصحافي السعودي قال فيه "أن استقالته "ليست متعلقة بأي شيء كتبه هو شخصيا".
و كانت صحيفة الوطن قد نشرت مقالا للشاعر السعودي إبراهيم الألمع انتقد فيه التيار السلفي المتشدد السائد في السعودية.
Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi resigned Sunday as editor of Al-Watan leading newspaper. Some sources said that he was forced to resign because his recent articles against Salafi thought have angered authorities.
Some reports mentioned that Khashoggi is known for his position against extremism and conservative application of Islam, while AFP quoted the Saudi journalist saying that "his resignation is not related to anything he personally wrote."
Al-Watan newspaper had also published an article for Saudi poet Ibrahim Al-Alma' in which he criticizes the extremist Salafi thought that dominates Saudi Arabia.

وقعت إيران مع تركيا بمشاركة البرازيل اتفاقا يهدف إلى تهدئة قلق الغرب من طموحات إيران النووية و تجنب فرض عقوبات جديدة.
و بموجب الاتفاق ستحصل إيران على 120 كلغ من اليورانيوم المخصب اللازم لتشغيل مفاعل الأبحاث مقابل نقل 1200 كلغ من اليورانيوم الإيراني الضعيف التخصيب إلى تركيا.
و من جهة أخرى، شككت إسرائيل في جدوى الاتفاق حيث قال مسؤول إسرائيلي أن "الإيرانيين تلاعبوا بتركيا والبرازيل عبر التظاهر بموافقتهم".
Iran signed with Turkey with the participation of Brazil an agreement aimed at easing concern the West of Iran's nuclear ambitions and avoid the imposition of new sanctions.
Under the agreement, Iran will get 120 kg of enriched uranium required to operate the research reactor in exchange for the 1200 KG of weak Iranian uranium enrichment to Turkey.
And on the other hand, Israel doubted the feasibility of the deal as an Israeli official said that "the Iranians are forged, Turkey, Brazil, by demonstrating they have agreed," he said.

أعلن تنظيم القاعدة في "دولة العراق الإسلامية" عن مبايعة "أبي بكر البغدادي" أميراً لها بعد مقتل الزعيم السابق أبو عمر البغدادي إثر عملية عسكرية مشتركة بين القوات الأمريكية والعراقية.
وجاء هذا الإعلان في بيان أصدره التنظيم، الذي قام قبل يومين بإصدار بيان آخر يتوعد فيه بشن عمليات مسلحة تستهدف القوات العراقية.
ورغم التطمينات التي يقدمها القادة العسكريون الأمريكيون والسلطات العراقية، بكون التنظيم أصبح ضعيفاً، إلا أن التفجيرات الأخيرة توضح أنه لايزال قادراً على تنفيذ أعمال عنف.
Al-Qaeda organization in the 'Islamic state of Iraq' has named 'Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi' their Emir, after the killing of the former leader, 'Abu-Umar Al-Baghdadi', in a US-Iraqi joint military operation.
This announcement has been part of a statement issued by the organization that issued another one two days ago threatening to launch armed operations against the Iraqi troops.
Despite assurances by US military leaders and Iraqi authorities that the organization has weakened, the last explosions indicate that it is still capable of carrying out acts of violence.

تمكن جراح سعودي رفقة فريق طبي ياباني من تطوير أنسجة بشرية للحصول على خمسىة قلوب ثم زراعتها بنجاح في جسد مصابين بأمراض القلب.
وقال د. صفوق الشمري المشارك في العملية في تصريح لصحيفة "الحياة": إن من شأن هذا الإنجاز أن يساعد على التخلي عن البحث عن متبرعين بأعضاء بشرية.
ولم يتمكن الشمري من المشاركة في العملية إلا بموافقة استثنائية من الحكومة اليابانية، التي تمنع قوانينها مشاركة أطباء أجانب من المشاركة في إنجاز أبحاث ودراسات علمية في البلد.
A Saudi Surgeon in collaboration with a Japanese medical team have managed to develop human cardiac tissue to construct five hearts that have been successfully transplanted in cardiac patients' bodies.
"This achievement could help in dispensing with human organ donors," said the surgeon Dr. Safwat Al-Shimary in a statement to Al-Hayah newspaper.
Al-Shimary was able to take part in the operation only after being granted an exceptional permission by the Japanese government whose laws ban the participation of foreign physicians in scientific studies and researches in Japan.

اعتقلت السلطات السودانية زعيم حزب المؤتمر الشعبي (بي سي بي) المعارض حسن الترابي بتهم لا تزال مجهولة.
ووفقا للتقارير تم الاستيلاء على صحيفة الحزب وإغلاق مكاتبها.
وادعى الترابي،الذي كان شريكا مقربا من الرئيس السوداني عمر البشير، مؤخراً أن انتخابات الشهر الماضي كانت مزورة.
كما أنه اتُهم أيضا بالصلة مع حركة العدل والمساواة (جي اي ام)،وهي المجموعة التي تعتبرها الخرطوم منظمة متمردة .
Sudanese authorities have arrested Popular Congress Party (PCP) opposition leader Hassan al-Turabi on charges that remain unknown.
According to reports, the party’s newspaper has been seized and offices shut down.
Al-Turabi, once a close associate of Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, recently voiced claims that last month national elections were rigged. He has also been accused of having ties to the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM), a group that Khartoum sees as a rebel organization.

وبحسب التقارير، فإن مشروع "القبة الحديدية" كان قد أنشئ بعد الحرب بين الإسرائيلية - اللبنانية لاعتراض الصواريخ القادمة من غزة ولبنان.
يأتي هذا الإعلان بعد شهر على تحذير الولايات المتحدة لسوريا من الإسهام في الصراعات الاقليمية بعد ظهور مزاعم حول تزويد سوريا بصواريخ لحزب الله وهي إدعاءات نفتها سوريا بدورها.
US military aid to Israel is set to increase after president Barack Obama asked Congress to provide an extra $200 million to Israel’s production of a short-range rocket defense system called “Iron Dome” that Israel plans to deploy later this year.
According to reports, the “Iron Dome” project was created after the Israel-Lebanon war to intercept rockets from Gaza and Lebanon. The announcement comes a month after the US warned Syria of contributing to regional conflict after allegations surfaced that Syria was supplying missiles to Hizbullah. Claims that Syria has denied.
