Hani,
Are you translating the Handbook of Secondary Gifted Education or Programs and Services for Secondary Gifted Students? I edited both of them. Both would be a challenge to translate but certainly the Handbook is much longer. Now, your question is a complex one that has caused much conversation in the field of gifted ed for a long time. Some think that a gift is something one is born with (i.e., has no control over but is endowed with) and a talent is what one does with the gift--develops it, learns how to maximize it, and ultimately makes the most of it in life. This is a short and simplistic differentiation of the terms, but that is the way they are usually viewed. I would be happy to discuss these more and am interested in how you are viewing the book as you translate it.
